Chapter 3
MSME Benefits & Schemes
A toolkit of benefits
Registered MSMEs access a wide array of central and state benefits designed to lower costs and ease growth.
Financial and tax benefits
These include collateral-free loans under the Credit Guarantee scheme, interest subvention on loans, subsidies on patent and trademark fees, electricity-bill concessions in some states, and protection against delayed payments under the MSMED Act. There are also marketing and ISO-certification reimbursements.
Flagship schemes
Key schemes include the CGTMSE (credit guarantee), PMEGP (employment-generation subsidy for new micro-enterprises), the Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme (CLCSS) for technology upgradation, and ZED certification for quality. The Udyam Assist Platform helps informal micro-units enter the formal fold.
Procurement preference
Government procurement policy reserves a share of purchases for MSMEs, with price preference and exemption from earnest-money deposits on the GeM portal. Knowing which schemes fit your stage is the difference between leaving money on the table and meaningfully cutting costs.
